Description:

I found this mirrored door on the curb. Mirrors play a large role in my work and in this piece it is obviously a “vanity” mirror. I was thinking about allllllll the time I had spend in front of mirrors — primping, picking, tweezing, covering — and all the reasons I felt the need to do this. I use the same magazines and advertisements that make me feel bad about myself to create a grotesque representation of the diet and beauty cultures that seep into every part of my life. I formed the canvases in a cross shape around the mirror and spray painted “Have Mercy” on it. I am begging to be left in peace from the constant negging of advertisers.
