Princess Series

Princess Ana

2024

Found frame, newspaper article, paper cut outs from books, magazines, grocery store circulars, cardboard, stickers, paper doily, foil, plastic gemstones, plastic container, toy plate, fork, mirror, and dollar, yarn, plastic beads, polymer clay, plastic barrette

30.5 x 24.5 x 1 inches

Frustrated by the flippant tone of this opinion piece, I examined my own disordered eating patterns while wondering wtf “ordered” eating even is. Triggers for eating disorders may not be well understood but mixed messages from culture, as well as the profitable food, diet, and beauty industries, certainly do not help.

Princess Bride

2024

Found frame and curtain rod, paper cut outs from books, advertisements, wedding invitation

31.5 x 24 x 1 inches

Description:

Using my own wedding invitation, a Precious Moments book, Disney princess books, and jewelry advertisements, I collage the overwhelming message that marriage is the end goal. It’s a bit much to push onto little kids.

Princess Playboy

2024

Found frame and curtain rod, paper cut outs from books and Playboy magazines

31.5 x 24 x 1 inches

Using Disney Princess books and Playboy magazines, I invite the viewer into a collage of the contradictory messages girls receive from birth. Especially in the context of purity culture, it feels as though we’re expected to be a Princess in the streets and a Playboy Bunny in the sheets.

Princesses Girl, Kiss, & Lick

2024

Disney Princess stickers and Playboy magazines

Using Disney Princess books and Playboy magazines, I invite the viewer into a collage of the contradictory messages girls receive from birth. Especially in the context of purity culture, it feels as though we’re expected to be a Princess in the streets and a Playboy Bunny in the sheets.
